BECHEM UNITED F.C.

Bechem United Football Club is a Ghanaian professional football club, based in Bechem, Brong-Ahafo.
Club is a premier division club and a fully-fledged member of the Ghana Football Association. The club until recently an unknown entity in Ghana Football has been in existence since 1966.
Bechem United is the only premier division club in the whole Ahafo. Founded from the merger of two rival teams, Sailors and Vipers, the club though modest has produced some great stars that featured for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Prominent among them are Moro Gariba and Nana Koffi. It also has a long history of rivalry with Brong Ahafo (BA) Stars and Berekum Chelsea.

In 2007, the youth team of Bechem United took part in the Trofeo Karol Wojtyla, a youth tournament in the Italian Commune of Fiumicino, Province of Rome, Lazio region.

In September 2011, Bechem United were crowned champions of the Poly Tank Division One League Zone 1 and promoted to the 2011–12 season of the Glo Premier League.

FACILITIES

The team now has a state-of-the-art club house in Bechem which is ranked as one of the best in the country.
Facilities include 28 Rooms (Chalets), a swimming pool, a gym, a tennis court and table tennis, Pitch for training and official matches, 2 buses (a brand new 30 and an old 18 Seats), 3 Acres of land acquired for an academy, two different paying TV channels, cooks to feed the players three square meals…

The club plays its home games in the Glo Premier League from the Nana Gyeabour’s Park, since the club’s original home, the Bechem park is 5,000 capacity, and the requirements of the Glo Premier League made it fall short of the required capacity.

ACHIEVEMENTS

In July 2007, Bechem United became the first division club to embark on a training tour in Europe. Their impressive outing at the tour gained them a ticket to partake in the II Trofeo Karol Wojtyla. This tournament was played in memory of the late Pope John Paul II. It was the first time an African team participated in the under 19 tournament. Even though it was their first outing, they managed to defeat Catania and Messina and lost only to Sampdoria.

These two big outings saw the transfer of 12 players of the club to Europe which includes clubs like Messina, Catania, Fiorentina and Parma all in Italy, Saturn in Russia and Murcia de Portivo in Spain.

FA Cup Champions
Bechem United won the Ghanaian FA Cup 2015/2016 for the first time in the club history.

PROJECTIONS

The club has plans for an Academy to nurture more talents. One major reason is that all academies in the country are in the southern part of the country. Surprisingly, most of the best soccer talents the country has ever produced come from the northern part of the country…

That is why AC Link is partnering with Bechem United FC to realise the dream of many Ghanaian talents whose football dream could go down the drain untapped.
